Finding the Perfect Home Based Business

Several years ago, I thought I had the perfect home based business for me. Things were going well. I was my own boss. I had good clients. I had the opportunity to pick and choose which jobs I wanted to take.

Then it all crashed. My easy, fulfilling and satisfying work no longer paid what it used to. My solid base of clients was no longer anything I could count on.

One of the first things I did was to get out my notebook and write down what I wanted as a business. Down to detail. Not too much detail though. I did not write that I work for XYZ Company. I didn't write down that I have X as my home based business. I didn't even write down that I make X number of dollars.

I wrote down that my business runs itself. I have great customers and clients. I work from any location I choose. My work is rewarding. I have a large, steady, dependable income. My business is fun. I am in the correct business for me.

I wrote pages and pages about my business, my vendors, my clients, my profits. My home office, how proud I am of the work that I do. I am appreciated, I am respected and trusted. I am here to help. It's a joy to go to work. I love the people I work with. I am excited to go to work in the morning. My customers find me. The perfect business opportunity finds me. I am fulfilled. I went on and on and on.

Then I set aside my notebook and forgot about it. I let the universe take over for me. It's funny. Once you get out of the way and stop trying to control everything in your life, magic starts to happen.

And once you start dreaming about your dream life and get really excited about it, it really gets to be fun to watch as things start popping into your life. Just like magic.

  1. The product or service you offer in your home based business must be useful and needed often. This is an obvious factor that is often underestimated. A product which people will need regularly means more repeat business for you and a steady flow of income. Your product must bring a benefit or must solve a problem. All these factors will ensure that what you offer in your home based business will have constant demand which is good for the success of your business.
